So basically, all I have been doing in April is watching people live life as we know it (through the eyes of social media). I have been introduced to the world of YouTube last September and this was when it all started! Allow me to explain…
On daily basis, I have been watching YouTubers Zoella, Pointless Blog, Roman Atwood and other famous ones too, but these three have affected me in one way or another. Since the majority of our community is unaware of how big and powerful YouTube actually turned out to be, let me introduce to you these three. Zoella is an English fashion and beauty blogger, YouTuber and author of two best-selling books. She has a total of 14 million subscribers on YouTube alone. Pointless Blog is an English YouTuber and author of two books. He has a total of almost 10 million subscribers on YouTube. Roman Atwood is an American YouTuber; prankster and vlogger. He has a total of 15 million subscribers on YouTube. Each one of these three YouTubers has helped me come at least one step closer to who I am and where I stand today. Zoella (Zoe) has inspired me to start a lifestyle based blog and write about things I never thought I’d be interested in. Both Pointless Blog (Alfie) and Roman Atwood always share their positive and optimistic thoughts in their videos so they both inspired and motivated me to take actual steps and never look back. Through all of their videos I have learnt to feel comfortable in my own skin. I have learnt to find my passion and shine through it. I have learnt that there is no limit to my sky and that I should always aim high. I have learnt to enjoy life, the people around me and myself. I have learnt other things as well that I am currently failing to list but, the things I have learnt shaped me into the person I am today. And maybe it was in me the whole time, these skills and characteristics I have now. But maybe they would have never shown if they hadn’t been triggered in the first place. These three YouTubers were my trigger to become a better version of myself for the past six months. They got me to now; being able to share this piece of me with random people online. So here is a thank you to my three amazing influential YouTubers who have helped me realize my potential and add value to my life. They are like role models to me, at the moment. I hope to see them one day and tell them these words in person.
I believe what I am trying to say is that you should not stand in your corner waiting for something exciting to turn up. You should move around, go watch and learn about what others are doing in their corner. Maybe you will be interested, maybe not. Maybe you will get inspired, maybe not. Maybe you will experience something new and very exciting, maybe not. But there is always a possibility. You never know what the corner holds for you! So look around till you find someone or something that triggers you to become a better version of yourself.
This was supposed to be a chatty paragraph about how much I have been enjoying the snapchat stories of a bunch of random people; whether they are well-known or not. But I ended up writing a some-kind-of-personal and some-kind-of-motivational post. Is this how a person becomes like when he turns 21 years old, ha? Haha
Ever since I was a kid, I have longed for becoming an adult. I have asked my parents to treat me as a responsible person ever since I was little. By the age of 5, my biggest responsibility was not to answer or open the door to anyone when my parents were not at home. By the age of 8, my biggest responsibility was to wait for my parents to pick me up at the parking lot after my training. By the age of 11, my biggest responsibility was to look after my newly born baby brother. I always asked for more responsibilities when I was a kid, a teen, and now a young adult. I am a very practical person who wants to get on with life and get the most out of it. I believe that the age period between 20 to 30 years old is the most flourishing period of a person’s life so I have been excited to live these 10 years ever since I was little. And so I am happy to say that I finally turned the big 21 a week ago.
For my 21st birthday, I got two of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received from my best friend, Lamees. Three months ago I mentioned in the Book Fair post that I looked for A Book of English Poetry book but I couldn’t find it. This was a huge disappointment to me until Lamees looked for it overseas and got me the neatest used copy she could put her hands on. Now if this is not true friendship, I don’t know what is! Also, since I am a hardcore F.R.I.E.N.D.S fan, she got me a “Floorplan of Friends Apartments” poster. She got me a freaking Friends’ poster! It instantly makes me happy whenever I look at it. I don’t care if mum doesn’t hang posters on the wall, I will be hanging this in my room till I move places. *happy sigh*
